Licence Agreement
Last updated: 9 August 2026
The Software itself is GPL-3.0-or-later
This page is not an end-user licence agreement in the usual sense, because Rotor is not proprietary software. The extension is licensed to you under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later. You may run it for any purpose, study it, change it and redistribute it, including modified versions, under the terms of that licence. Nothing on this page reduces those rights.
Copyleft is a deliberate choice here rather than a default. Contributions carry a Developer Certificate of Origin sign-off and there is no contributor licence agreement, so copyright stays distributed across contributors and no single party — the maintainer included — can relicense this as closed source later.
What a paid licence key is
A licence key is a signed statement that a given tier applies to you. It unlocks capabilities added after version 1.0. It does not license the Software, which you already have under the GPL, and it cannot lock a capability that shipped in version 1.0.
Keys are verified entirely offline, against a public key compiled into the extension. There is no activation server, no call home, and no way for us to switch your copy off.
Scope of a key
A licence covers the 1.x release line — every 1.y.z version. A future major version is a separate purchase, discounted by 50% for existing licence holders and free if bought within six months of that release.
Device limits stated on the pricing page are an honest-use expectation rather than a technical enforcement. With no server, no fingerprinting and no telemetry, we have no way to count your machines and no wish to acquire one.
Transfer and revocation
You may move a key between your own machines freely. We will revoke a key only for chargeback fraud or where a key has been published for others to use; revocation applies to future issuance and cannot reach into a copy already installed.
Support
support@dfacto.ai for anything, on any tier. Paid tiers add a stated response time, not a different willingness to answer.
